New industry leaders need to be cultivated.

The Response

Leadership Energy Carolinas is an industry-specific initiative to train young leaders and build their camaraderie and network.

The Program

LEC is a personal and professional development forum. Organizations are asked to consider their high potential people for the one-year program. There are four LEC class sessions in each calendar year. The sessions teach communications, media, research, legislative issues and industry trends; the class members visit various nuclear operations in the two states. Our class members meet industry executives, policymakers and others critical to the success of the Carolinas’ nuclear industry. Class members are expected to be consistent in their attendance so they build familiarity and teamwork with other class members.


Who Should Apply?

  • Organizations: Nominees are accepted from utilities, engineering firms, suppliers (hardware and service), higher education, economic development organizations and citizen groups devoted to nuclear energy progress and members of the Carolinas Nuclear Cluster.
  • Individuals: Persons with industry and professional potential for long-term leadership, as assessed by themselves and their sponsoring organization. People 25-45 years of age are preferred. Exceptions are made on an individual basis (for example, someone may be entering the industry in the Carolinas).

How to Apply 

You must be recommended by a Cluster member or the management in your company. Candidates must complete an application  and the selection team meets to ensure a balanced roster.

2013 cost:

·        CNC member corporate/business - $3,200.

·        CNC education/nonprofits (w/nuclear or energy engineering/tech component) - $1,950.

·        Non-CNC members - $5,500.

This includes on-site food, activities, materials and program management.  Participants handle their own travel and expense, such as transportation to the meeting sites, hotel rooms, etc.
